My Scripture Journal

Alright...so this post is going to seem like I'm rambling a lot (which I kind of am) but just stick with me!
(And visit the link to Latter-Day Homeschooling. It's written much better than my quickly scribbled out thoughts.)

So, I decided to try out a new thing today...

It's called a "Scripture Journal".

I've done something like this before, but not quite this organized.

Basically, it's a three ring binder where you can keep your thoughts, favorite scriptures, and conference talks all together in one convenient and spiritual spot.

The past few weeks, I've been telling myself that I really need to start keeping a journal. But...it's so hard!

It started when my computer died (It does that sometimes) and my super awesome husband had to fix it by completely wiping the computer clean, rebooting the hard drive, re installing all of the software back on, and overall being extremely frustrated. (He obviously loves me if he's willing to put in all that hard work....either that or he REALLY didn't want to buy me a new laptop!)

Anyway, I had written down a lot of our memories from when we were dating, our first kiss, how he proposed, etc. in a word document...

which i then lost along with everything in my life...

Isn't it crazy how many documents and pictures we have on our computer that we never look at, but as soon as it's gone we wonder how we're ever going to live with out them?

Yeah, that was me.

So, now I have to re-write our whole dating experiences along with some of the newer memories from the past year or so that I haven't had a chance to write down yet. (I don't know why I have so much trouble with that)

I think my biggest problem is that I know that one day my future children will read my journals and I always think: "Man, I sound really whiny." or "Does this really matter?" or "Was I really THAT boy crazy? How embarrassing!" (true story)

So, the idea of starting off small with writing down the big memories and keeping a scripture journal greatly appeal to my mind much more than writing every little boring detail from my day to day life. One day, maybe I'll get to that point, but for now...

My Scripture Journal!

It will have all of the Spiritual Promptings that I get when I read through conference talks, or my scriptures, or whatever! And honestly, isn't this sort of stuff really what we want our kids to read (not to mention I'll actually go back in the future and re-read the things I wrote and not cringe at how naive and silly I sound)

I got the idea from Latter-day Homeschooling (here's the link again, just in case you didn't click on it the first time). She actually has a bunch of pages and quotes about why it's so important. Because I love the quotes so much...I'm going to share them with you:

Elder Richard G. Scott:  “We often leave the most precious personal direction of the Spirit unheard because we do not record and respond to the first promptings that come to us when the Lord chooses to direct us.”                   

President Spencer W. Kimball:  “Get a notebook, my young folks, a journal that will last through all time, and maybe the angels may quote from it for eternity.”

Elder Gene R. Cook:  “I’ve found, as I’m sure you have, that when you’re trying to learn from the Lord and you feel an impression from the Spirit, it’s important to make a note so it will not be forgotten. The more you not only hear but abide by what you've been told, the more the Lord will give to you. It will come more and more rapidly and you will begin to hear and feel those impressions of the Spirit more quickly than you have previously done.” 

Elder Neal A. Maxwell:  “The prompting that goes unresponded to may not be repeated. Writing down what we have been prompted with is vital. A special thought can be lost later in the day through the rough and tumble of life. God should not, and may not, choose to repeat the prompting if we assign what is given such a low priority as to put it aside.”

So, it's pretty important to write down our thoughts! So, the pages that she has on Latter-Day Homeschooling (I added it a THIRD time! Bazinga!) are awesome resources to get your own book started (and quite frankly she does a better job convincing you that you need to create one...)

However, my printer was being crazy and wasn't printing out her pages very clearly...so, I recreated some of them myself!

Either I am a super crafty awesome fun person ... or I have WAY too much time on my hands...

Tragic News Happens

Well, CW and I found out officially this week that we lost the baby.

I am no longer pregnant.

And it really does stink. There's really not much you can do at this point.

Physically, I'm doing just fine.

It really makes you think though, about the trials we have and what we can handle. I never thought I would be able to handle a trial like this and I guessed that I would never have to go through this.

How wrong I was.

Fortunately, when hard times happen, we have the gospel and the scriptures right next to us to uplift us.

My awesome sister (who has had plenty of hardships herself) sent me an excerpt of what she calls her favorite talk given by Joseph B Wirthlin:


"I think of how dark that Friday was when Christ was lifted up on the cross.
No matter our desperation, no matter our grief, Sunday will come. In this life or the next, Sunday will come.

On that terrible Friday the earth shook and grew dark. Frightful storms lashed at the earth.

Those evil men who sought His life rejoiced. Now that Jesus was no more, surely those who followed Him would disperse. On that day they stood triumphant.

On that day the veil of the temple was rent in twain.

Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Jesus, were both overcome with grief and despair. The superb man they had loved and honored hung lifeless upon the cross.

On that Friday the Apostles were devastated. Jesus, their Savior—the man who had walked on water and raised the dead—was Himself at the mercy of wicked men. They watched helplessly as He was overcome by His enemies.

On that Friday the Savior of mankind was humiliated and bruised, abused and reviled.

It was a Friday filled with devastating, consuming sorrow that gnawed at the souls of those who loved and honored the Son of God.

I think that of all the days since the beginning of this world’s history, that Friday was the darkest.

But the doom of that day did not endure.

The despair did not linger because on Sunday, the resurrected Lord burst the bonds of death. He ascended from the grave and appeared gloriously triumphant as the Savior of all mankind.

And in an instant the eyes that had been filled with ever-flowing tears dried. The lips that had whispered prayers of distress and grief now filled the air with wondrous praise, for Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God, stood before them as the firstfruits of the Resurrection, the proof that death is merely the beginning of a new and wondrous existence.

Each of us will have our own Fridays—those days when the universe itself seems shattered and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. We all will experience those broken times when it seems we can never be put together again. We will all have our Fridays.

But I testify to you in the name of the One who conquered death—Sunday will come. In the darkness of our sorrow, Sunday will come."

I truly believe that Sunday will come for CW and I.

It's comforting to remember that Christ has suffered for all of our sins and knows each one of us individually.

He knows our joys and sorrows, our triumphs and our times of despair.

I'm grateful to have the gospel in my life to help me when times get rough.

I am also grateful that CW is a worthy member of the church who holds the priesthood and has authority over our home.

Despite the devastating news, I truly know that My Redeemer lives and he loves me.

I have no doubts he is right by my side through all of this, helping me along the way.

I believe that prophets were sent on this earth to give us wonderful messages like the one above.

That is their purpose, to instruct us to become better and more like our Father in Heaven and to give us words of comfort when we feel as though we've been kicked down.

Once again, I am grateful for my Savior and all that he has done for me and continues to do for me.

This is my simple testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Primary Games

So, this post is really for me more than it is for anyone else to use as a resource.

Just warning you.

However, if you are curious, you are more than welcome to read on!

It really is useful!

I'm teaching the CTR 7 Primary class in church right now and I have discovered something very important. They have no attention span.
Seriously.
Their minds are EVERYWHERE!

I began teaching my class, trying to focus on getting through the lesson as quickly as I could, but then i always had 20 minutes of class time left over at the end.

There's only so much hangman you can play before you start to go a little crazy.

I tried letting them pick out their own game, but then I would have students arguing on which game to play and they would be upset when their game wasn't picked.

I knew there had to be a different way, so I started to try and figure out how I could change up my lessons.

The first thing I knew for sure was that I needed to add more games.

My kids LOVE games.

Like really love.

Like, one of my students will ask in her prayers that they will have time at the end of class to play games, kind of love.

So, I thought, "why wait until the end of class to have games"?

I consulted my sister (who is a primary teacher over the same age group and a elementary school teacher), pinterest, and google for ideas on how I could lengthen my class out and make it overall better.

I have compiled a list together of awesome activities that I feel are church appropriate that we can play during class.

I have the ideas split up into THREE categories:
Mini Games: Games that are really quick that get the kids to move and to wake them up
Time Fillers: Games and activities that are there to fill up some extra time that I may have at the end of class.
Review Games: Games that I can come up with questions regarding the lesson and play at the end of class to help the students remember what we talked about in class that day.

The important difference between mini games and time fillers is that my mini games are usually activities that can be quick and that everyone can participate. Time fillers are usually more of games that each student takes a turn being "it", therefore taking up a lot more time because each of my students begs for a chance to be "it".

Some of the games I felt could be in more than one category, so I put them in more than one category! :)

So, without further ado, here is a list of the games/ideas I have come up with:

Mini Games:

1.  Unscramble the Word: Write a word on the board with the letters scrambled up and have the kids sort the letters out to figure out the word.
2. Secret Message: Give the children a phrase with a lot of unnecessary letters around the words, hiding them. Give them a letter to cross out, until they have crossed out all of the unnecessary letters and are left with the secret message.
3. Act It Out: Act out the scripture story you're talking about in the lesson.
4. I Spy
5. Graveyard: My kids came up with this one themselves. Have all of the kids lie on the ground with the lights turned off as still as they can be. If a student moves or talks, then they are "out". Keep going until one person wins. For me, I'm really lenient and don't tell students when they are out. Usually, one student can't handle being still anymore and will declare themselves out. Then, they will take it upon themselves to be the enforcer. When a student gets "out" I tell them that they still can not talk while the others are playing. It's an excellent game to play when you want a moment of peace and quiet.
6. Hot Potato: When the potato lands on them, have them say something that they are thankful for or something nice someone did for them during the week. Be creative. 
7. Puzzle: Print off a picture from the internet that has to do with your lesson. Cut it up into several puzzle pieces (I usually do somewhere around 12) and have the students work together to put the picture back together.
8. Beanbag Answers: Ask the students a question and toss a bean bag to a student for the answer.
9. Hidden Object: Hide an object in the room and have the students hunt around for that hidden objects. If possible, hide more than one item so that more kids have the opportunity to find something.
10. Do The Wave
11. Blink: Blink one eye while snapping the opposite side's fingers 10 times. Do the other side.
12. Position Switch: Part way through the lesson, tells the students to turn their chair facing a different wall, sit on the floor with no chairs, or trade your chair with the person on your right, and continue the lesson from there. It gets them alert and they think it's silly that they're doing something different.
13. 5-4-3-2-1: Start off with doing 5 of something, then 4 of something different, then 3 of something else, etc. An example would be tell them to hop on one foot 5 times, spin around in a circle 4 times, walk around the room 3 times, high five 2 different people, Touch your toes 1 time. Then everyone sits down.
14. Would You Rather: Ask them would you rather questions, having them go to one side of the room or the other depending on their answer. For a quick activity, only ask them 5 questions. For a quick list of questions that I found on the internet/created myself, click here: Would You Rather? List of Questions. Don't be afraid to come up with questions on your own! Especially some lesson related questions!
15. Find it Fast: A variation of I Spy. You call out a color, a shape, or a trait and let the students go around the room searching for something that matches that trait as quickly as they can.
16. Plates: Each student puts a paper plates on their head and walks around with it there for as long as they can. If it falls off, they have to freeze until another students walks over and picks up their plate for them (without their own plate falling off)
17. Line Up: Have students line up in a certain order depending on what you call out. Examples could be having them line up according to age, height, hair length, alphabetically according to middle name, etc)
18. Train Connection: The students line up with their hands on the person's shoulders in front of them. They walk around the room, following what the leader is doing. When the turn is over, the person at the front of the line has to go to the back and the next child continues the train.
19. Stretch & Move: Have the students stand up and stretch! Some stretches they can do are: windmills, jumping jacks, toe touch, waist bends, high knees, hop, balance, jump rope, skip, crawl, walk, etc.

Time Fillers:

1. Hangman: I always have my students use "church words".
2. Word Search: I created some easy word searches for my students to do. It really wasn't difficult and all the words had to do with church or the lesson.
3. Drama or Draw: Have the kids pick out a word strip with an activity on the paper. They can either draw a picture of the action on the board or act it out while the other kids guess.
4. I Spy
5. Graveyard: See Mini Games #5
6. Coloring: Have each child draw or color a picture that you print off ahead of time. Many times, the manual will have a picture, but if it doesn't just google your subject online and you'll find lots of ideas!
7. Hot or Cold: Have one child leave the room while another hides an object. When the child walks back in, the other students tell them they are hot (when getting closer to the object) or cold (when getting farther away).
8. Pig: Each student rolls the dice once, writing down the number that they got. They take turns rolling the dice until the first person has reached the number 50.
9. Detectives and Robbers: Everyone in the room memorizes the room as it is. Send a couple of students out as the "detectives". The students in the room (the robbers) will change ONE things about the classroom. Call the detectives back in and have them figure out what is different about the classroom.
10. Who Touched Me: A variation off of Heads Up, 7 Up (which my kids LOVE...unfortunately, we only have 5 students in my class). In this game, have a couple of students close their eyes while the other students go and touch one of the people. The people with their eyes closed, can open their eyes and try and guessed who the person was that touched them. 
11. Musical Chairs: Sing a song that they're learning in primary or a song that goes along with your lesson. When a student gets out, they can join you in singing and they can pick when the music "stops".
12. Beat That: The students roll 2 or 3 dice and finds the highest number possible. Once everyone has a turn, the person with the highest number wins the round. Example: If I rolled 2 dice, and got a 6 and a 3, my number would be 63. If I rolled three dice and got a 3, a 2, and a 4, my number would be 432.
13. Four Corners: Blindfold a child while the others go to one of the corners in the room. The blindfolded child calls out a number (1-4). Who ever is in that corner, is out. The children switch corners and the blind folded child calls out another number. Continue until there is only one child left. With this one, you may want to give the blindfolded child two chances to guess where a person is before having everyone switch places. That will help the game to go faster.
14. Six Spots: Number six spots around the room and have the kids go to a number they like. Roll a die. If you are at the number that was just called out, then you are out. I usually do the first roll, and then have the student that gets out have the next turn to roll the dice and call out the number. If no one is at that number, then have the child roll the dice again until you land on a number that a student is on. 
15. Would You Rather: Ask a lot of questions or have the children take turns coming up with their own questions to ask the other students. See Mini Game #14 for more ideas.

17. Thank-You Cards: My kids LOVED making thank you cards. I put a list of people they could write a card to on the board and game them some time to write them. They were disappointed when class was over and they didn't have a chance to write more than one. It's a good activity that gives them a chance to write to someone in the ward or someone in their family and tell them thank you. It also makes the person receiving the card feel good. Plus, YOU feel good being the one who suggested it! Win-Win-Win!

Review Games:

1. Spinner Board with Questions: I made my own spinner board. There are three colors on it and an arrow I tacked into the middle so it can spin freely. The students spin the arrow and depending on what color it lands on, gets asked a question. If they get the questions right, they get a point. I would recommend having at least 8-12 questions, 3-4 for each color.
2. Choose the Right Board Game: Click on the link and print off this awesome board game that the church put together as a resource for teachers: CTR Choose the Right Board. Then, write up questions from the lesson.When a child gets the question right, they move forward, if they get it wrong, they move backwards or stay in the same spot. For difficult questions (like What does it mean to repent?) they can move ahead two spaces. For easy questions (like How do you feel when you serve someone?) they move ahead one space. When they land on a CTR, they get to go up the latter. When they land on a WC, they have to slide down the slide. You could also bring dice and have them roll to discover how many spaces they move forward or create your own dice that have the numbers 1-3 on it. You'll have to come up with the most questions for this game, probably at least 15-20. You may need to reuse questions as well depending on how many times they land on the "WC" square.
3. BINGO: At the beginning of the lesson, give each child their own bingo board. As you go throughout the lesson, each time a key word is called out, they can cross off that square on their board. You may need to emphasize the word and pause for a few moments as they try and find that square. Who ever gets 5 across first wins! You need to come up with 24 words. 
4. Tic-Tac-Toe: Split the class into two teams. Team X has to answer a question. If they answer the questions correctly, they get to put an X on the board, if it is answered incorrectly, they lose their turn. Continue until some gets three in a row or it's a cats games. You need to come up with at least 9 questions for one game.
5. Bean Bag Toss: Line three containers (this could be bowls, boxes, buckets, etc) in a row (or around the room, adjusting the difficulty to your class) and label them as different points (1, 2, 5). Have each child take turns for their team answering a question. If they get the question right, they can toss their bean bag into one of the point buckets, if they make it, they get the points for their team. If they don't make it, they get no points and it is the other team's turn. Which ever team reaches 20 first, wins. You'll want to think of at least 15 questions (in case they miss the bucket or get a lot of ones)

The great thing about the primary lesson manuals is each lesson has at least 10 questions it tells you to ask your students. I usually ask my students these questions, and then ask them again in the review game. They have no idea that I'm reusing questions and they get excited when they know the answer. It makes it a lot easier to plan the review games as well. It'd be miserable to have to think up all of those questions by myself!

So, there are my games ideas. 

There are 37 total.

Phew.

Usually, my class time starts off with an attention-getter activity, has two-three mini games in the middle, and about 10 minutes at the end of class for a review game, class activity, or time filler game. There's a lot less time sitting around at the end of class, all of us asking each other "what do we do now?" and it helps to move the lesson along and keep their attention a lot better.

Now, this isn't perfect. 

There are just some weeks that a few of my kids just want to be miserable and don't want to play any of the games I present to them.

However, I remind myself to move on and be flexible.

Every week isn't going to be a perfect lesson and by the time they get home, they probably won't even remember what we talked about in class...

But, if I still have my sanity by the end of class...then I consider it to be a success!

I'm Ready to Baby it Up in Here!

Oh yeah. I'm pretty stoked! 

I have a baby growing inside of my body at this very moment.

How awesome is that!

And let me tell you....it isn't always easy to get pregnant.

No, it is not!

There were so many teenage girls getting pregnant at my high school when I was younger, I thought to myself, "Oh yeah, it's EASY to get pregnant! We'll have no trouble what so ever."

That was definitely not the case.

I'm surprised at how many people for their first child have lots of difficultly getting pregnant. It's a really tough trial that is difficult to understand unless you've gone through it or you know someone who is close to you that has gone through it.

That's why I mention it.

I'm not ashamed that it took us a little while.

In fact, looking back, this pregnancy couldn't have come at a better time.

It's just a testimony to me that things will happen all in due time. And what's meant to be will be.

(And for those of you wondering...we tried for 9 months. Which really isn't that long when you put things into perspective or talk to other people who try for several years...but to me, it was FOREVER!)

Anyway, I'm having a baby! :)

My current due date is February 17, 2013 (although, I don't really like to count on that date. The baby will come when the baby is ready)

I am currently 9 weeks along (so I don't know the gender of the baby yet) and I feel FANTASTIC!

No, really. 

I feel great.

I've had ZERO days of morning sickness and it is a HUGE blessing to me and my family!

I do, of course have other symptoms, (back pain, weird aversion to smells, gagging when I brush my teeth, super mega highly emotional, and I get really tired really easily...just to name a few.)

But no throwing up. It's awesome.

I already know I'm going to be that girl that my friends call up when they're pregnant to ask me how I overcame the trial of being sick all the time and I'll just say*, "I don't know what you're talking about! Pregnancy is AWESOME!"

*ps. I would never EVER actually say this. Morning sickness is a very real thing and I feel terrible for all the women that have to go through it. 

Anyway, to help show our excitement, I told CW that I wanted to take a couple of awesome pictures:

Although my brother-in-law questioned my math, I would like to remind everyone that this does NOT read 1 + 1 = 3. That is incorrect. I now have another person inside of me...so it is 1 + 2 = 3. I can do math!

We're high-fiving each other here because we're excited that we did it. GO TEAM BABY!

Well, there you have it! That is the most exciting thing that has happened in our life right now. There are (of course) a million other things that have happened since the last time I posted...but what does that matter now?

It's baby time! :)

These are a few of my favorite things!

If you weren't singing when you read my blog title, then I invite you to go back up and re-read it, this time with a tune in your head. Can't think of the tune? I'll give you a hint: Sound of Music. That's all I'm saying.

So, nothing too exciting has happened to me recently, so I decided to write about a few of my favorite things: Books, Movies, and Harry Potter.

I'll start with Movies. I love watching movies. Since I graduated from school, I think I've watched a movie a day. (not an exaggeration!) I just loving having a movie going on. Whether I'm sitting down and watching it, or just having it play in the background so I can listen while I'm doing other things.

A couple of my favorite movies would include Sherlock Holmes (which I'm sooo incredibly excited for the next one to come out!) and Tangled (probably one of my favorite Disney Movies ever!) There seems to be so many good movies coming out to, but alas, the movie theaters are not my friend. However, Redbox is my friend! Oh how I love Redbox and free codes! :) I signed up with Redbox to recieve a free code once a month. Probably the most exciting day out of the whole month!

Recently, I've been reading through and watching all of the Harry Potter books and movies, which bring me to my second favorite thing: Harry Potter. When I was little, my mom bought me the first Harry Potter book. I hated it. I read about 2 chapters and told her the book wasn't for me. Then, in fourth grade, my teacher read to us a chapter from Harry Potter every day. I was forced to listen. And when  the book was over, I was surprised to find that I enjoyed it. So, I asked my mom for the second book. I got it, I read a couple of chapters and decided, once again, that this series just wasn't for me.

So, several months later, I was sitting at home by myself (I believe my parents were on a date that night) and I decided to pick up the book again and give it one last try. A couple hours later, I finished the second book and as soon as my parents got home I rushed them out to the store so I could buy the third book. I discovered that I LOVED this series. It was my muse.

As each of the books came out, I was always one of the first people in line to get them. Our lives revolved around Harry Potter.I know exactly where I was when each book came out. I remember having to buy the fourth book before my family's trip up to Utah to drop my sister off at school (BYU). I remember being in the target in Saint George, UT, running through, racing my cousin (who hadn't even finished the fourth book yet) trying to get to the book first. I do NOT remember, however, knocking my cousin into the women's lingerie section when he started to beat me and run faster than I could (but my sister and dad CLAIMED that it happened). I even remember when the seventh book came out, the week of girls camp, sitting there glaring at my dad who would sit and read it in front of everyone, even though I was not allowed to bring the book up myself.

And when the movies came out, life was even better! The first movie came out when I was ten, so I felt as though I was growing up with these characters. I had various crushes on all of the them (well, mostly harry or malfoy). Life was good.

Now, the final movie has come out and I'm feeling nostalgic. I'm not QUITE as obsessed as Harry Potter as I used to be (although if the chance came up again, I would push my cousin down, no problem). But, as a reminder of those goods times when I was growing up, I've started back at the first book again and am watching all of the movies.

Because of Harry Potter, I found a love for all books. I have a soft spot in my heart for all fiction/fantasy books. Another one of my favorite series is the "Poison Study" series by Maria Snyder. I think that she's a really good author and I love the plot. It's about a girl, who is in prison, is given a chance to live as the Commander's Poison Taster. But, as it goes on, she finds that someone is after her, trying to kill her. Along the way she makes great friends (and there's a little bit of romance involved, as well).

I also loved the "Hunger Games" series. I know it sounds scary (it's about kids who are thrown into an arena and have to kill each other or be killed) but it's so good! I'm excited for this movie to come out too, although I don't know exactly how they're going to make it pg-13. (at least it better be!)

I've never been a huge fan of historical fiction, until I recently read "The Help". That book was amazing! It tells the story of black maids during the civil rights era down in Jackson, Mississippi. Anyone who hasn't read it yet needs to and I can not wait to see the movie (when it comes into Redbox, of course!) Going to the library is one of my favorite activities and I just love reading new books.

If we're on the topic of LDS romance fiction, my favorite is "Meg's Melody" by and outstanding author Kaylee Baldwin. It's about a girl who's husband leaves her. Not too long after, she discovers that she's pregnant. It's a feel-good story with a lot of cheesy romance that I absolutely love!

Finally, the last thing I want to mention is a new blog that's out there that got me thinking about all of this. It's called

It's a blog dedicated to contemporary young adult books. They do giveaways, book reviews, and much more. It's pretty dang awesome and the people who developed the blog are really cool too. (and fun to read). Most of them (if not all of them) are published authors or writing on books themselves.If you love books and getting things for FREE, you should check it out and follow it. (And NO, I am not one of the moderators, I just think it's a cool idea!)

Free At Last!

Well, I haven't written in a while. But, this time, I'm not embarrassed or sad about it. Because this summer I finished school.

Yep. Finished.

Well...kind of. I have an associates degree and several "certificates" now. I like to pretend and tell people that I'm done "forever". It makes me feel good.

However, I'm sure that that's not the truth. I'll probably eventually go back and continue my degree.

But let's not talk about such sad thoughts for now.

Instead of filling my day with hopeless, endless piles of worthless homework (I mean, seriously...when will I EVER need to know how to expand binomials) I am now filling it with things I actually enjoy.

For example:
-I spend a majority of my day dancing around singing "Mamma Mia" by ABBA on the top of my lungs.
-I do a minimal amount of cleaning so that I can feel somewhat productive,
-I scrapbook,
-I look longingly at my patterns for sewing a quilt, wishing I had just a little bit more money to buy all of the materials i need (although we did just get our grant money...I"M RICH!),
-I cook delicious meals,
-I sing and dance around the house a little more,
-I feel just a little embarrassed when CW walks into our house seeing me singing and dancing around like a maniac (only a little though),
-I color pictures (yes, I'm five),
-I watch lots of movies,
-and now I'm finally getting back into blogging!

Basically, I'm just super happy all around. CW tells me pretty much every day "Wow, Lyndsie. You're so much happier now that you're out of school! I barely recognize this new person."

Oops.

Well, at least I'm enjoyable to be around now! :) So, at least while I can, I'm going to continue living life up!

What do you like to do when you have spare time? Any suggestions for me that's both inexpensive and fun?

Long Time, No See

Wow. Can you say LAME-O?? Cause that's what I thought about the person who has neglected to update her blog since SEPTEMBER!

Oh wait......

That person was ME!

Well, here's just a quick update about what the last several months have been for me:

OCTOBER


CW and I went to a Nerd Theme Halloween party, which was a lot of fun!

NOVEMBER


We went on our "Second First Date". CW and I went on our first date November 5, 2009. Crazy, huh!

We also went to CW's parent's home for Thanksgiving. I had the opportunity to cut down my very first Christmas Tree and we had awesome food! :) Lots of fun,

DECEMBER


We spent half of Christmas at CW's parents house (which included opening presents and an awesome Nerf War) and the other house at my parents house. (Yes, we flew from Colorado to Arizona on Christmas Day.)

For Christmas, my parents bought all of the adults tickets to go to Disneyland! It was so much fun. I've never been over Christmas before, so it was really cool. Super busy though. :\

JANUARY:

We did many things like go on a hike, play around, have fun! Nothing too special.

FEBRUARY:

Valentine's Day! CW was very sweet. He bought me a flower and we went to the Planetarium and played around.

It also snowed a TON! So,we decided to try and enjoy it while it lasted. (Unfortunately, it lasted much longer than I had hoped for.)

Jaimee (my sister) also got engaged in February to Seth Carpenter! My family was all so excited! We love Seth. :) I had the opportunity to go down to AZ for my sister's Bridal Shower.

MARCH:

Jaimee's wedding! CW and I drove down to AZ to see their marriage. It was a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful couple! I love them both! They're so awesome!

I also got my hair cut this month! Most people have seen it now, but in case you haven't:

I love the short hair! It's so cool and refreshing. I honestly don't remember how I survived those hot Arizona Summers with my long thick hair before! I'm so grateful that I can pretty much pull off any hair cut that I want to! hahaha.

APRIL:

Well, this month started off amazing with my and CW's one year anniversary! I can't believe it's been over a year already! AMAZING! We've had so much fun and so many adventures in the past year. I can honestly say I'm truly excited for another year (Just hopefully it won't be AS intense as last year! haha)

For our anniversary, we built a fort in our home and watched Tangled. (One of my new favorite Princess movies EVER! In fact, I'm watching it now while I blog and scrapbook! haha)

We also went for a "hike" in the mountains. It was super deep with snow, so it was more just walking around.

In April I also GRADUATED! 

Well....sorta.

I walked anyway. I'm still taking a few classes over the summer to finish up all of my credits, but I walked. We had Elder Russel M Nelson as our commencment speaker (which was amazing!) I'm so grateful I stuck it out at the business college. Once the summer is over, I will have a General Studies Associates Degree! Whoo hoo!

We also went to the Red Butte on Arbor Day. It was cold, but really pretty! We had a ton of tun together.

MAY:

And finally, we reach this month! CW and I went on our first hike of the summer. We were supposed to see a waterfall, but we got lost. :( Oh well, that just means we have to go back! haha

So, that's pretty much it! It's been a fun several months and I'm glad I could spend it with my best friend!

Busy Busy Busy

Wow! I can't believe that September is already almost over! It's so crazy how quickly time passes by. Since my last post I've been moving in to our house (still...it's pretty much done now! yay!) and doing school stuff. Before all that though, my sister and her boyfriend came up to visit us and go to one of her friend's wedding.

We honestly couldn't get a really good picture of the four of us. These were the best two! hahaha It was a lot of fun having them come to visit us!

My parents also came and stayed with us for a week. I think they're having Lyndsie-Withdrawals...therefore they have to come visit me as often as they can. :) What can I say? I'm the favorite!! ;)

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of them being here yet...but my next post will include that! Hopefully. :)

In addition to having people visit us, school started! Yay! (insert sarcasm here). It wouldn't be too bad except for the fact that I'm trying to graduate this April which means I have to take 17 credits this semester. Yikes! Hopefully all goes well and I'll have that nice little piece of paper that tells people I'm accomplished or something. :) Here's a picture of me on my first day of school! We have a picture of CW somewhere aaround here...but I can't find it at the moment. Oh well.

Right now I'm still going to the LDS Business College where I am getting my Business Degree with an Emphasis on Entrepreneurship and a certificate in Sales and Accounting. Sigh. Yeah, I'm pretty busy.

Cw is going to the University of Utah right now. He's double majoring in Political Science and Economics. After he graduates (which won't be for another 2-3 years) he wants to get an MBA. After all that, he would really enjoy going into International Business.

We love the neighborhood we live in, the ward we go to for church, and even our tiny tiny apartment. It's most definitely a fun (and sometimes stressful) time in our lives....so we're trying to make the most of it!

August Rush

No, I'm not talking about the movie... I'm talking about mine & my hubby's life, of course! Because this August, we have certainly been RUSHED!

Cw & I went to New York with my parents at the beginning of August, we've moved away from TX back to UT (finally!), we're moving our stuff back into our apartment, FINALLY got to open up our wedding presents and start using them (it was like Christmas & our wedding day all over again...AMAZING!), CW started school and already has mass amounts of homework, and my sister is coming up and staying with me next weekend because one of her best friends is getting married.

Yay August!

So, since it's been a little bit, I'm going to start back and go through our trip...mind you, this may take a bit of time. And A LOT of pictures. Just imagine me (who takes 400 pictures in a day) plus my mom (who takes 500 pictures a day) plus my dad (who encourages us to take 600 pictures a day) plus CW (who is just so dang photogenic!) and you equal a million of amazing pictures and a ton of great memories! So, here it goes:

In New York, we had a ton of fun!

We went to the top of the Empire State Building at night! It was so amazing!

We took a walk in Central Park. (I love this picture! I think we look so cute.)

We went to Liberty Park AND got to go up into the crown of the Statue of Liberty! It was sooo cool! A big thanks to my mom who got the tickets to do that months in advanced!

We got to go see The Phantom of the Opera for both my mom's and my birthday! It was absolutely AMAZING! We were sitting in the second row and the chandelier fell on us! Awesome! I highly recommend it.

After Phantom of the Opera, we went and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. Yummy! Just thinking about all of the amazing food that we had in New York (like the Shake Shack...which is one of my new all-time favorites!) makes me hungry! :)

We also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. Its got an awesome view.

Finally, here's the bakery that I worked at! You know, the one that I applied for, was hired, then fired, then re-hired, then fired, then re-hired again a third time, I worked there for about a week, and then I quit because CW and I moved to TX...

good times. :)

So, that was our trip to New York. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad we had the opportunity to go!

okay, so you probably think that I'm really weird because we took a picture of a toilet. And once you learn the reason, I'm sure you'll think that we're HUGE nerds. BUT! In the Chicago airport, they had toilets with the plastic already on it. All you had to do was wave your hand over it, and it automatically changed! It was so cool!

So, we went back to TX and before we left, we went to go see the temple. It's a really small temple, and unfortunately it was closed...but it was still a lot of fun to go see!

Here's us in front of the temple...sort of. We're in front of the gates that are in front of the temple. It's weird that a temple is closed! I'm used to the Mesa and Salt Lake Temples where the ground are open every day of the week until late at night! Oh well.

And finally...we got into a truck and started heading back to UT! YAY!! (We were originally going to fly back to UT, but one of CW's friends had to go back early and asked if we'd drive his truck back for him. It actually worked out a million times better for us in the end...so it was perfect!)

It was a really fun trip home! We got to stay the night at CW's parents house. It was so wonderful to see them! Especially, CW's sister, Shannel, who is leaving for Russia tomorrow to teach English to those wonderful children over there! I am so excited for her! It is going to be such a wonderful experience for her!

The truck was FULL of stuff! (both our stuff and CW's friend's stuff!) I honestly can't believe how much stuff we have! It's crazy!

At one point, our tarp was falling off in the back, so we had to pull over to the side of the road while CW got out and fixed it in the back. There he is in the rear-view mirror tying it back up! :) Isn't he wonderful! :D

At another point of the trip, we were stopped in traffic for an HOUR! It was completely ridiculous! At one point, CW got out of the car and started walking around. After much persuasion, I got out of the car with him. Here's CW just hanging out while we were waiting for the cars to FINALLY start moving again! It took FOR-EV-ER! (hehehe a little bit of the Sandlot there)

It was absolutely gorgeous weather on the way home! Going from super hot and humid Texas (think 105 degrees and 80% humidity...EW) through to dry and cool Utah (think 80 degrees and 0% humidity) was a wonderful transition that I was more than happy to make!

So, there you have it! Our trip to New York with my parents, a visit to the Dallas Temple, seeing CW's parents, staying with my grandma one night and CW's brother another night, and finally making it all the way back to UT! It's been most certainly a fun August!

And after a ton of pictures and three movie references (hehehe), I've finally finished another blog post. Perfecto!

Trip With My Sister

So, last week I went to New York & Washington DC with my sister Jaimee and her boyfriend Seth. It was a lot of fun! :)

I had such a fun birthday! I got some clothes and a lot of scrap booking stuff. But, my favorite gifts are the ones that my wonderful husband gave to me!

He gave me a Tahitian Pearl Necklace (so pretty) and tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway!! I'm sooo excited! It's going to be absolutely amazing! :)

I had a wonderful birthday and I'm excited for the fun adventures that my hubby and I will be having in my 19th year of life!
