How We Met

Well, as promised, I told you guys I'd go through and let you know how it all happened that me and CW got together! So, I'd like to tell you how we first met. Now, seeing as we went to the same school (and the schools not that big!) we'd seen each other around campus, but never really made an impression on the other person. So, cue November 5th, 2009:

LYNDSIE'S VERSION

I had had a really rough day that day. There was a lot of stress going on in my life and I was super busy. Things were happening with friends, school was overloading me, and I was just tired. I had been invited to the temple by a couple of people earlier that day, but I had said "no" so I could stay home and work on more homework. I almost immediately regretted it.

The day passed on, and I decided I needed to get my mind off of things, so I went running.

As I was running, I felt a prompting that I should go to the school's cafe. I brushed it off thinking, "I'm not hungry" or "I don't really want to be around people". As I got closer to the school, the feeling came on stronger and stronger.

Finally, I had a choice to make: Go into the school? Or pass on by?

I decided to go inside to the cafe. I thought maybe it'd make me feel better if I ate something. I knew there was some reason I had to go!

I went inside and sat down among a group of friends. I sat there for quite some time. People had come and gone, but I just sat still, tired and unwilling to move. I was making small conversation when one of the people at our table stood up and asked everyone sitting, "Hey, I was going to the temple tonight and I was wondering if any who had a limited temple recommend wanted to come with me?" I immediately answered, "I would like to go!"

This was it! This was the answer to my prayers. I knew that this was why I needed to go to the cafe that night, so I could have the opportunity to go to the temple and to find peace that way. It was perfect.

A group of us got together and decided we'd go to Walmart together before the temple. When we got there, I started talking to this boy who had invited me. He was extremely tall and had jet black hair. He was very handsome and kind of flirty with me. I had recognized him from around school, and he seemed like a good kid. I felt really undressed walking next to him in my bright red basketball short and my blue t-shirt while he was wearing his nice white shirt and tie.

The more we spent time together, the more fun we started to have. By the time we got back, we only had about 15minutes to get to the temple and had lost the majority of our group. Luckily, I lived next door, so me and another girl ran up and changed as quickly as we could! It was just this boy, my friend Rachel, and I.

When we got to the temple, we met up with a couple of other girls there and all spent our time together. After it was over two of the girls had left and me, Rachel, and "CW" all walked to the school, where Rachel's car was. We dropped Rachel off, and CW walked me back to the Plaza where I was staying. We exchanged numbers and went on our way. (I was soo excited when we texted me first thing the next morning!)

So, that's how our first day went together! It was so much fun! But, it seems so much better when you know CW's side of the story:

CW'S VERSION

He was walking home from physical therapy that afternoon on November 5th, 2009. (He had gotten into a car accident about a month before) He had planned to go to the temple afterwards, so he called everyone who had said would go with him. Every single person bailed. He was pretty upset that 7 people who had committed to going all told him they weren't going to go anymore.

He was walking on the "North Side of the Temple" coming up to West Temple street when this girl jogged past him. As she was approaching, he thought to himself that this girl was really cute. When she passed by, he turned around to get a second glance. "Yep, still cute" he thought. But, he told himself that she probably wasn't mormon and he would proably never see her again, so he just threw the thought out of his mind.

He went back to his flat and got changed into some nicer clothes. As he was changing, he decided that he wanted to go to the cafe to grab a bite to eat. He figured that he could ask and see if anyone there wanted to go to the temple with him.

He headed over there and got his food. As he was looking around for a place to sit, he spotted a table with some of his friends. At this table, that girl who had been jogging was sitting there! He was so excited when he saw her. He sat down at the other end of the table and ate for a while. He decided to ask if anyone wanted to go to the temple with him. This girl, wearing the bright red basketball shorts, and the faded blue T-shirt, looked up and said that she would go.

"Score!" he thought. He was so excited that she was going to be coming with him!

(That's usually when he stops his version of the story, although he often adds, "So, that night, we went to the temple together. And I've been going to the temple with that girl ever since!")

---

So, there's our story!! That's how we met and what exactly happened. It's all pretty crazy when you think about it! I'm so grateful that I was able to meet him. He's been a huge blessing to me in my life!

You Thought You Had A Rough Morning...

Imagine This:
I wake up, throw my hair into a bun, and head out to my car. I have a list of things I need to get done today.
1) Get gas in car
2) Work on wedding stuff
3) Go to class
4) Lunch
5) Go to next class
6) Homework
7) More wedding stuff
8) Go home - Eat dinner
9) Skype with CW
10) Sleep
It was a jammed packed day already. I knew I had a lot to get done, so I wanted to get an early start. Good idea...right?

I go out to my car to find that the windows were all iced up. No problem! I had just gone out a few days ago and bought an ice scraper specifically for occasions like this. So, I turned on my car, and turned the heat up on the defrost. Both so the ice could start melting, and the car could start getting warm. I grabbed my ice scraper, shut my door so no cold air would be let in, and started scraping ice off my car. When I had circled around the whole car, I reached down and grabbed the door handle to get in. The door didn't open. I tried again. Still, no results. I tried the passengers side, the back doors, over and over again. None of them would budge. I stepped back and stared at my car in disbelief with my ice scraper hanging limp in my hand. I was locked out of my car.

Immediately, I called my dad frantic, not sure what to do. He told me to get a wire hanger. So, I went back to my apartment to get a wire hanger. I tried to open that door, but it was locked. My key to the apartment was on my key chain. Which was in my car. In the ignition. With the doors locked. I started banging on the door until one of my poor roommates came and opened it up for me. I briefly explained and ran inside to my closet. I looked frantically around. No wire hanger. I looked over at my roommates side. "Rochelle?" I called out. She replied, "Yes, you can have a wire hanger." I felt a surge of relief, for only just a moment. I ran back outside to try and use this hanger to break into my car.

A few minutes later, another one of my roommates comes out. Apparently, she's had experience with this before. So, we started working on it together. 45 minutes later, freezing and tired, we're still trying to get into the car. I looked at my running car, remembering that the first thing on my list was to go get gas. I asked her how long she thought my car would run before it completely ran out of gas. She shrugged and said that cars could go for a pretty long time on the fumes. 4 seconds later... "put...put...put...*silence*" Yes...my car had run out of car.

By this time, my first class had already started.I was continually checking my watch, trying to decide when I should quit trying to get into my car and just call a lock smith. A guy from the apartment next door to us came out and asked us if we needed any help. Both of us, being tired, welcomed his generosity and willingness. He worked on it for another 20 minutes.

Finally, he was able to use the wire hanger to pull down on one of my buttons to roll down the back left window. We reached through and unlocked the doors. I grabbed my keys and let my car rest.

By this time, my class was nearly half way over. So, my roommate drove me to the school, so I could finish the last 45 minutes of class before we addressed the problem of me getting gas.

45 minutes later, we left to school back home, thinking of how we could conquer our next problem. We went inside and grabbed a container for apple juice, emptied it out, made sure it was DRY DRY DRY, and headed to the chevron. I went in for a dollars worth of gas. The lady looked at me weird, but didn't ask any questions.

We put in a dollars worth of gas into this small container. Jumped back into her car and headed back to our apartment. We took the gas and funneled it into my tank. I got into my car and took a deep breath before trying it out. It started!

I raced over to the gas station so I could fill up my car the rest of the way with gas, the whole time praying that I would be able to make it there. As soon as I got gas, I raced over to the school, grabbed a quick bite to eat, and had barely enough time to make it to my class.

So, the next time you're sitting there thinking that your having a rough morning, just be glad that you haven't locked yourself out of a car with no gas. But, if you have done that exact same thing, then don't hesitate to give me a call.

At this subject...I'm now an expert...sorta. Although, it's an experience I pray that I never have again! :)

What I REALLLY Do At College

:) Here's what I've been up to:

CAMPING

This is one of my best friends, Kayleena! Me and her always have so much fun together!! Me, her, and a group of friends all went camping together up in the canyons of Salt Lake. It was so much fun!

So, Kaylee has a onesie....hehehe

Naturally, we HAD to try it on together!! I mean...what else would you expect us to do?? :D

With her onesie and my Barney blanket...I think we were a match made in Heaven!! hahaha

The next morning we went hiking just around where we had stayed.

This is one of my other best friends, Andy. He's great! He also went with us camping. Plus he's got an amazing truck! :)

So, that was my camping trip! First one in a while, and I'd be willing to go on another one. We slept under the stars...had stew...what more could you want? :)

VISIT FROM FRIENDS

So, not too long after that was conference weekend. (Which was AMAZING! One of the best conferences we've had in a while) So, a whole bunch of friends were coming up to Utah to visit! So, I went down to Provo and hung out with some of them down there, then we all drove back up here to Salt Lake together. It was so great seeing all of them!

We went to a place called "Spoon Me". It had different smoothies and things like that. It was actually really good! So, we all piled up into a car....safely of course, and totally not illegal in UT! :)

We also went to a BYU football game. And took random pictures there...of course! At one point I kidnapped a friend's camera and took a million pictures of myself. hehehe. I didn't put all of them on here because, there were just waaay too many!

We thought it'd be fun to get a picture with some of the band members who played that night...we were right! It was fun!

I stayed with Abby in her dorms that night, which was a blast! The next day I went with Abby to her grandparent's house which isn't to far from the MTC. They have this beautiful home with this gorgeous view! We also had an amazing home cooked meal! It was delicious! I love her grandparents! :)

We went back up to Salt Lake and met up with a whole bunch of girls. In this picture it's Abby, Kari, Stefani, Ashley, Cali, and ME! We had so much fun hanging out and catching up with some of our guy friends were at priesthood session.

We met up with two boys after priesthood session, Bryce and Thomas and me and Kari went off with them to hang out for a while. We walked around temple square (since that's where I live) and got this awesome picture!

This is my favorite!!

There's Thomas and Bryce! Both live in Mesa right now and are going to school. They both came up to visit for Conference.

Here's Kari and me! Kari's going to school at BYU ID. She just came down for the week-end as well, just for fun! She stayed with me that night, and we had a blast hanging out!!

I LOVED seeing all my Mesa friends, but it did make me miss the ones I wasn't able to see. It was a bittersweet moment. But, that's okay!

PROVO CANYON

Me, Kayleena, and Andy all decided that we were going to go to Provo canyon to hike and do homework! :) Yes, we HAD to go there to get it all done!!

This is me and Kaylee (again) hanging out in the back of Andy's truck. WHICH, we found out, is also NOT illegal!! :) haha.

We found this great spot by a river that was really quiet and COVERED in leaves. It was so pretty.

Feet! :) Don't ask.

We had a lot of fun at Provo Canyon. and YES, I DID get homework done!! :D We also went and got sweet potatoe fries. Mmmm!! They're some of my favorites!

SLEEP-OVER

One night: Me, Kayleena, and Rachel (our other best friend) decided that we were going to have a sleep-over! Cause...that's what you do in college, right? Well....we were heading over the Kayleena's room (that's where we were going to do it) when.......

Me and Rachel decided we couldn't make it all the way. :) You may be wondering where we are now...aren't you. Take a good look. Closer. You're almost there...it's the elevator!! :) We did get some funny looks...but not too many. Hey! It was like 2 in the morning! Who's that crazy to be in an elevator at THAT hour?! :D

Naturally, Kaylee wanted to join us (it was surprisingly really comfortable...that could be because I was just exhausted though!) So, we decided to take pictures. WIGGLE FACE!!

I love these two girls to death! They're such great friends to me and we always have so much fun!

Yay for college! :)
